The annual Mackinac Island Christmas Bazaar is always a wonderful way to start the holiday season with it's early December tree lighting ceremony. What could be more magical than this snow-covered island beginning the countdown to Christmas with carol singers, hot cocoa and horse-drawn carriage rides.
The Christmas Bazaar occurs the first weekend in December at the Community Hall on Market Street. Auctions, raffles, booths, and a luncheon help raise money to benefit a variety of charitable island organizations. The Christmas Bazaar artisans and booths always offer something unique, festive and handmade.
There is also a live afternoon auction. All auction items are donated by Mackinac Island merchants and there are some wonderful things to bid on and enjoy. There is also a rummage sale held in the Fire Hall each day.
Santa also comes for a visit and stays to take pictures with the kids.
Come, deck the halls with us and take in the old-fashioned craftsmanship of the Mackinac Island Christmas Bazaar.
