EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTY OF MACKINAC ISLAND IN THE WINTER
Visiting Mackinac Island in the wintertime is a completely different experience than visiting in the summer. Two restaurants remain open where you can mix with the locals. For the most part, shops are closed and the focus this time of year is on the beauty of the island itself. Visitors can hike through the woods and take in the beauty of the serene snow covered forest. Mackinac Island Ski Club grooms trails throughout the state park. There are many things to do throughout the winter season. The island holds it's annual Christmas Bazaar in early December, Winterfest weekend is the beginning of February, the Great Turtle Chili Cookoff is mid-February, and the state park hosts lantern lit ski events at various times during the winter.
