Built in 1891, “Cross Trees” cottage commands premier panoramic views from high atop Mackinac Island’s historic East Bluff. Overlooking the Straits of Mackinac the superb vista encompasses the “Mighty Mac” bridge linking the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan, the bustling yacht harbor and ferry docks. To relax or dine on the expansive wrap-around porch, furnished in comfortable wicker, is a heavenly experience. Cross Trees cottage has been owned by the same family for 99 years and has been lovingly cared for and improved. The living room is a return to the early 1900s with antique wicker, oriental rugs, fire place and the modern addition of TV and VCR. The sunny kitchen has all modern appliances including refrigerator/freezer, stove w/self cleaning oven, dishwasher, disposal, microwave and a propane Bar-B-Q located on a deck adjacent to the kitchen. The eating area has a wonderful antique ice cream table and chairs. The laundry room contains washer & drier and freezer. A ½ bath completes this floor. The dining room boasts a large fireplace, built in china cabinets, bookcases and a piano. Lots of room for family and guests. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and fabulous views of historic Round Island lighthouse. The South bedroom holds a charming single four poster bed and view of the straits. The East bedroom has a double bed as does the West bedroom – both command views of the straits. The rear bed room is bead-board paneled with a single bed. It is equipped with high speed internet, printer and fax machine. Two charming baths, each with claw foot tubs and showers completes the second floor. A surprise addition is the “Cross Twigs” guest house. It is beadboard paneled, has a double pull out sofa and loft (which children love). A great place to get away, read a book or watch TV.
