ChurchesThere are a several functioning historical churches on Mackinac Island. Historic Mission Church is a classic structure that showcases Colonial New England style architecture in fine detail with its majestic white bell tower and iron weathervane. Co-structed by Pro-testant missionaries in 1829, Mission Church is Michigan’s oldest church building. There are carefully restored pews, furnishings, and a balcony. The Little Stone Church is located two blocks from Main Street at the edge of Grand Hotel’s Jewel Golf Course. Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church has a year round active congregation with its original parish dating back to 1695. This beautiful structure is one of Mackinac’s finest jewels. A recent renovation has added modern conveniences, yet maintains many exquisite original features.
