Pure Michigan Bay View Race

Pure Michigan Bay View Race

The Pure Michigan Bayview Race which is held mid-July is recognized by sailors as one of the most challenging freshwater boat races in the world.  Whether you’re watching from one of the many docks dotted along the eastern coastline, or participating, the Pure Michigan Bayview Race is one of the most exciting annual sailing events ever planned. Join the excitement of the Port Huron to Mackinac Race as boat racers sail Michigan's Great Lakes to reach their final destination, Mackinac Island.  It’s all Pure Michigan from start to finish!

The race starts in Port Huron.  With the flash of the start gun, there are numerous events, activities, and sight points.  From the north-bound course of the Port Huron to Mackinac Race,
there are a multitude of vantage points along the shores of Michigan’s eastern coast.  You can join the culminating festivities at the finish line on Mackinac Island where the hospitality, celebrating, and outdoor scenery is second to none.

You can enjoy following the arce from its online GPS tracking page for boat location updates.  This popular activity began a couple of years ago with the placement of GPS tracking devices  on all boats participating in the Port Huron to Mackinac Race. Pure Michigan is exclusively hosting the new online system, allowing Web users to track the progress of each boat on the course.

In addition to the Pure Michigan Bayview Race activities, there are a plenitude of things to do in Michigan that are all too often overlooked due to hectic schedules and commitments.  Along with attending and following the race itself, why not include a trip to one of Michigan's many lighthouses, national or state parks?   Of course, Mackinac Island offers so many tourist amenities, scenic beauty sites, and healthy outdoor culture, that the race’s finish line may be your vacation starting point.
