Jazz Weekend

Jazz Weekend

Jazz fans the world over like to take in the smooth sounds of jazz on Mackinac Island.  The Grand Hotel’s Labor Day Jazz Weekend is the perfect opportunity to come enjoy good music, good people, and great scenery.  This one of a kind jazz festival always lives up to the beauty and prestige of the Grand Hotel and the island itself.  Concerts are held at various locations on the grounds of the Grand Hotel, including the Tea Garden, Grand Hotel theatre, and even on the front porch!

The performers at this premiere event are no slouches.  Musicians like Herbie Hancock, former members of the Count Basie orchestra, the Manhattan Transfer, and even several gospel choirs have all graced the various stages at this end of season event.  Even Pete Fountain managed to make it over for one year’s festival.  The Mackinac Island Jazz Festival is an enjoyable way to share some cool jazz and picturescue beauty.

Hotel guests are given early admittance to the Tea Garden seating beginning at 11:45 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.  For jazz patrons who attend the festival events, but are not hotel guests; tickets for the Saturday and Sunday Tea Garden performances are $65 per person for each day and include a scrumptious buffet lunch. Children younger than 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.  Admittance begins at noon.

For those of you who desire something a little more formal there are the night-time shows. Evening concerts are in the hotel's Theatre, Terrace Room, Jockey Club, and Cupola Bar, and require guests to adhere to the hotel's strict dress code.

So, why not bring your bee bop diddly self on over to Mackinac Island for some world-class musical performances in an idyllic setting.  If you would like more information, contact http://www.mackinacparks.com for further details.
